The cottages

Stone houses with slate roofs, the castle tower on its rocky spur, and red kites circling over the valley.

Valon is a medieval hamlet in the commune of Lacroix-Barrez, set on the slope of the Truyère gorges, in the Carladez area of Aveyron. We welcome you to several holiday cottages there: Les Coultades de l'Escoufle.

Escoufle is the old French name for the red kite. You see one here almost every day. The bird gave its name to Stéphane Bédéloup's novel, L'Escoufle, which follows Valon from 1280 to 2062.

The cottages will soon be available to rent.
